How to washing and care Levi's jeans
Wearing jeans is a popular trend for people of all ages: youth, young adults and even the not-so-young. Levi Strauss jeans have been around since the late 1800s and are preferred by many because of their versatility, comfort and durability. Levi Strauss creates jeans for both work and casual wear. However, Levi's jeans might fade, shrink and fray from frequent washing, so wearers should take utmost care if they want to enjoy wearing the jeans for a longer period of time.
Frequency of Washing
Denims fade as a result of frequent washing, so wash them only when necessary. Levi's jeans can be worn several times without washing unless the wearer spills something on them, necessitating washing. Spot cleaning a spill gently with a damp sponge using kitchen soap keeps the jeans clean and prevents fading. Denims shape the body of the wearer, and when washed they may lose some of that shape due to the loosening of the fabric.
Putting Levi's in a washing machine might agitate the cotton fibers, resulting in the fabric swelling. This might lead to the yarns tensing up, causing shrinking of the jeans as well as fading or changing of the color. Hand washing the Levi's in lukewarm or cold water is preferable to keep the quality of the denim. Although dry-cleaning prevents color loss, it leaves the denim material stiff, which might be uncomfortable to the wearer.
Washing the Jeans
Levi Strauss jeans may be comprehensively cleaned after wearing them for a period of time. You can clean the jeans after six months by filling the bath tub with six inches of room-temperature water and adding mild liquid soap. For darker jeans, add 1/8 cup of white vinegar, as the vinegar sets the indigo and prevents fading. Immerse the jeans in the tub and let them soak for 20 minutes until they are clean, instead of rubbing them vigorously with your hands or a brush. Always turn the Levi's inside out before washing, as this prevents color loss.
Drip-dry the jeans by hanging them by the belt loops as this maintains their shape. Air-dry the Levi's in the natural way and avoid using the dryer. Levis suggests that when they are almost dry, if it is sunny outside you can wear the Levis and sit in the sun, so that they can take up your body shape.
